North of Perth near the Gingin observatory lies the Gingin plantations. There are tree plantations where they regularly plant trees and upon maturation cut them down for wood. Hence, there are fields that have been cleared, fields with short trees, and trees at full height.
I've done some nightscape photos and timelapse videos, but the plantation is not a fantastic site for nightscape photography.
Summary Info
CATEGORY: Landscape
RATING: Average
ACCESS: 2wd, but rough dirt tracks in plantation.
FEATURES: Rough open fields, trees.
CONSTRAINTS: Moderate light pollution south-east and to the west. Rough ground in parts. May need to look around some to get a good composition.
SUMMARY: A moderately dark sky location relatively near Perth, great for quick duck out and back sessions. Some light pollution south and west, but to make up for it the area almost seems to have its own micro-climate and keeps away the clouds (hills to the east stop inland cloud fronts coming in). However, you may also need to dodge bullets...

However, a few years ago I used to go out with my telescope to the plantation to do astrophotography as the location is not too far from me (I live north of Perth). Whilst there is some light pollution to the south and west, the skies are still relatively dark. But I don't recommend going to this location (read further down).
The plantation is easy enough accessed. Simply drive up the Indian Ocean drive until you are near the Gingin observatory, and there are quite a few dirt tracks that lead off to the east to access the plantations. Go explore - but be mindful that the tracks are quite rocky and whilst accessible in a 2wd car, I'd go with a 4wd with some tough tires.
At night, the plantations appear to be a favourite for hunters. Occasionally there are 4wd vehicles with spotlights and high beams going around the plantation shooting at animals (rabbits, kangaroos...?). This can be quite disturbing when you are trying to take photos in the night - and why I no longer go to this location for astrophotography or otherwise.
