Ashort 20 minute drive from the town of Albany, Western Australia - the beach at Salmon Holes is a popular small beach during the day. It is sheltered from three sides by high sand dunes covered in vegetation and rocky hills at the north and south ends of the beach. This small bay has wonderful views of the Southern Ocean towards the south east.
At night, very likely you will have the beach all to yourself. Its nice being out there with just the wind and the gentle waves, the high hills around the beach hide all signs of civilisation and you do, truly, feel alone out there with only the stars in the night sky to keep you company. Its great.
However, from a nightscape point of view there are too many compositions that are possible from this spot. In the end, it is just a small beach even though it is a nice one. I'd recommend it as a stop on the way to Flinder's Peninsula, or on the way back - as its in close proximity to that fantastic location.
