Magellan Tempest
by Will Vrbasso · November 24, 2023
There has been recent furore regarding the naming of the Magellanic Clouds (despite his early writings on the galaxies, Magellan was not the earliest recorder of the galaxies). A movement has been growing to rename these galaxies. I won't enter that debate, but will adhere to the naming provided by the IAU. However, as its been in the news recently, I decided to take a quick few shots of this galaxy while I waited for the moon to set later in the night so I could proceed to longer exposures on Pleiades.
Only 40 minutes of integration on this relatively big and bright night sky object. Certainly, a bit of noise shows through if one looks closely enough and therefore is a good indicator that it probably needs a fair bit more integration time.
