On Wongan Hill

Wongan Hills is located in the wheatbelt region of Western Australia and around 2 hours drive from Perth. I took this image from the local look-out situated on the hills not too far from the main town (which is the bright glow centre right in image on the horizon). The town, not suprisingly, is called Wongan Hills. There was a little bit of smoke / smog from nearby fires that can be seen on the horizon, causing some of the orange glow.

I had originially came to this area to take photos around Lake Ninan. However, exploring the area I was somewhat disappointed that the water had receded very far, and I couldn't find a composition that took my fancy, apart from a general uninspiring panorama of a partly dry lake which I've done many times before. So in the end I decided to go to the look-out and take one from there then head home. Well, you can't have great nights every night.
